Army chief to fly to USA for official visit early tomorrow
General Shafiuddin Ahmad, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, is scheduled to fly to the United States on an official visit at the invitation of the US army. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he will depart Hazrat Shahjalal International airport (HSIA) at 1.40am Saturday. General Shafiuddin will be attending the "Indo-Pacific Army Chiefs Conference (2021)", jointly organized by the US Indo-Pacific Command (US Indo-Pacific Command) and the Papua New Guinea Defense Force. There, senior leaders representing 17 countries in the Indo-Pacific will participate. This year's IPACC conference will discuss the future of operational environments. The conference will include bilateral meetings between the army chief and counterparts from other countries. The visit by the army chief will strengthen relations between the Indo-Pacific nations and the Bangladesh Army, and open up possibilities for cooperation.
